Dear AHN Family,
For the past few years, the American Association of Anesthesiologists (ASA) has partnered with LifeBox to raise funds to improve the delivery of anesthesia and surgical care around the world, especially in countries with poor access to healthcare. To date, LifeBox has distributed over 18,000 pulse oximeters, trained over 6,000 medical personnel, held nearly 150 workshops, and partnered with over 3,000 hospitals.
Monitoring via pulse oximeters in the operating room and other key areas in the hospital is extremely important.
Imagine providing anesthesia without a pulse oximeter? I can't imagine providing safe anesthesia without that beautiful beeping sound imprinted in our souls? :))
Every $250 raised leads to one pulse oximeter donated to an area of need.
Each year, ASA encourages resident teams to raise funds for this important cause. Our residents have formed a team to take part in the 2019 fundraising challenge.

The team has set a fundraising goal of more than $5,000. Anyone can donate as little or as much as they would like. When donating, an option for employer match for many companies is provided for anyone interested.
The winner of the challenge will be announced at the 2019 ASA meeting in Orlando, FL.

Since we started this event in June 2019, there has been two fundraising events (Muffins & Cupcakes Sale during Grand Rounds AGH/WPH July 23, 2019 and August 27, 2019).
Currently we have collected a total of $970! A huge shout out goes to the AHN family and everyone has provided great support to this noble cause. A special shout out goes to Dr. Carlos M. Perez for setting all of this up, we are so proud!
